Kabbalat Shabbat Service Commemorating the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. ft. Author Angie Thomas

Join Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple  at the annual MLK Commemoration Shabbat when author Angie Thomas discusses how artistic activism inspired her riveting new young adult novel, “The Hate U Give,” a #1 New York Times best-seller for young adult hardcover books.
Angie Thomas was born, raised, and still resides in Jackson, Mississippi and she holds a BFA in Creative Writing from Belhaven University and is an inaugural winner of the Walter Dean Myers Grant 2015, awarded by We Need Diverse Books.
Angie Thomas is excited to bring her message against hate to our Shabbat Service highlighting the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 12 at 6:15 p.m. After the service, a Q&A session, moderated by Temple leaders, will be held so we can learn more from best-selling author and activist Angie Thomas!
